Yesteryears Museum

Grammy and Grandpa Jacobs collected and saved several items -- some everyday items, some specialty items -- throughout their lives.  Their accumulated treasures were documented, and placed in a barn on their property.  Grammy affectionately named it their Yesteryear's Museum, and I've only ever been inside it twice!  Jim took me in there the first time he brought me up to Canada when we were dating, and this last time we went up I was able to go inside the little museum again.  I LOVED IT!  I loved touching, reading about, and seeing all the bits and pieces of history from Jim's ancestors.  I hope someday my own children will enjoy reading about these items, and how they were used, so they can appreciate their family history as well as how good we have it now-a-days.

I know I've mention this before, but Jim's grandpa Jacobs was a real live cowboy!  He was shot in the leg while rounding up horses shortly after Grammy and he were married.  He lost his leg in the accident, and left behind quite a legacy when he passed.  While we were in the shed Ross pointed out this saddle skirt to us.  It was the one Mervyn was wearing when he was shot.  You can see the bullet hole!  Crazy!

I love these marshmallow tins!

Grammy Jacobs' very own washboard.  On it was the lye soap she made herself!

Grammy's first oil lamp.  The curling iron was heated right inside the lamp!

When Jim was little they still had a shared line and their own ring.  He said it changed to the modern way of ringing people when he was around 12-years-old.

Ross painted this and all the kids had a blast playing in it!  Some of Jim's cousins came over one night.  My kids LOVED it!

Last Day in Mountain View

On our last day in Canada, we hung out, went fishing, Jim went golfing with his dad again while the girls, kids, and I went out for poutine -- I HAVE to get poutine when I'm in Canada -- we played more cards, and ate more ketchup chips (another Canadian must).  It was a nice relaxing Canadian day.  Here are the last pics from our trip.  It was our last fishing excursion to Romeril's Lake.  There are a TON of pics below, because I like them all and couldn't decide which ones to do without.

I think this might possibly be my favorite from the whole trip.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe it's the crystal clear water reflecting the blue cloud filled sky, or maybe it's the fact that my two favorite men in the whole world are sharing a quiet moment fishing together.

Old Chief

I told Hunty to look for Old Chief, this is what he did.
Okay, so the following pictures are of a little photo shoot Tralee directed.  She kept telling me to snap pictures, so I did.  I love them all.

Can you see Cammi?  She's way over on the other side of the lake fishing.

The next day Jim, the kids, and I packed up, and drove away from the land of maple leaves, snow, moose, poutine, ketchup chips, and crib -- just to name a few.  We, as always, enjoyed our time with family in the Great White North, and hope to go back soon.

Sunday in Waterton - Part Three

After skipping rocks our group traveled to the main street in Waterton.  We checked out some shops, ate some ice cream, and our little family went on a quick little bike ride on a super fun bike built for four!

Checking out the shops

Going on a bike ride - I seriously want one of these!!

Tralee spotted a naughty deer.

Hunter and Tralee both rode Thunder the horse outside of Pat's of Waterton (also the place to rent those cool bikes and other modes of transport).  Thunder was the energizer bunny that kept going and going and going and going.  It wasn't until the shop owner came out and told us Thunder often gets stuck, and you have to unplug him to make him stop, that we realized our great fortune!  Thunder definitely gave us our money's worth!

So that was our day in Waterton.  We had so much fun with Ross, Cammi, Nikki, Channing, Zayah, and our little family.
