Too Much

You know your daughter might be watching too much Curious George when she starts talking like a monkey.

Seriously.

The last few days, when Tralee gets excited about something she'll clap her hands, shout "Yay," and then say, "Ooo Ooo Ahh Ahh" just like George.

Now that the weather is nicer, and Hunter is a little older, we've been spending a lot more time outside. Yesterday we went to the zoo (pictures soon to come), today we went to a neighbor's house and played in their big yard, a few days ago we took Tralee to the beach near our house again. It's been fun, but when we're home and I'm feeding Hunter, or cooking dinner, and Jim's not around to amuse Tralee, I often find myself turning to the boob tube to keep her occupied while I can't be hands on with her. When I ask Tralee what she would like to watch her answer is always the same: "GEORGE!!!" She loves that little monkey.

I just ordered some used Curious George books from Amazon, and hopefully we can incorporate those into the George mix. A lot of times Tralee and I will read stories while I'm nursing Hunter. But let's face it, I'm not a perfect mom, and there are times when I DO use the TV to entertain Tralee when I can't. The only side effect I've noticed thus far is my child is starting to sound like a monkey. Hmmm. . . I can't decide if I need to be worried about this, or just keep laughing every time I hear Tralee say, "Ooo Ooo Ahh Ahh!" Any thoughts?

Want some super cute things?

I love getting things in the mail that aren't bills. Before I had Hunter my cousin-in-law, let's just call her my cousin, sent me these super cute burp cloths. I love them!
Thank you Hannah!

I'm always in awe with people who know their way around a sewing machine, and Hannah sure does. Not only can she make super cute burp cloths, but she has an etsy shop of entirely homemade items. She sews birthday banners, name banners, makes cupcake flags, among other super cute items. If you have a minute you should check out her etsy shop.

It's called Bonne Nouvelle.

Just click on the link above, or the picture below to go right to her shop.

Thanks again Hannah!

My Beautiful Babies

I think the one above is one of my favorites. Hunter looks adorable, and Tralee is examining his ear. Perfect!

Comparing I Am

Newborn pics

So, I know you're not supposed to compare children, but I just can't help myself. I'm pretty sure this won't leave them emotionally damaged, so I think I'm safe.

Right after Tralee was born, and they placed her on my stomach, I looked down at her and knew a few things right off the bat.

1. I knew I loved her instantly.

2. I knew she had her daddy's nose and head shape, my eyes, and a good mix of Jim and my lips.

3. Even though her eyes were that weird baby blue/gray color I KNEW they would turn brown. Sure enough, at around nine months, Tralee's eyes were brown.

While I was pregnant with Hunter I was SURE he was going to look like Jim. On his birthday, when they placed him on my stomach, I looked down at him and after the overwhelming feelings of love and awe subsided my only other thought was

"Huh, he doesn't look like Jim at all."

In fact, I couldn't really tell who Hunter looked like. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Hunter's nose is very different than Tralee's. That was one feature I was positive they would share. Nope. Wrong again.

Maybe when Hunter gets a little older he'll start to look like one of us. Until then, the only thing I can definitively admit is that both of my children are so stinken cute and loved that I feel like the luckiest mom in the world.

Just Beachy

Jim came home from his trip on Friday night instead of Saturday, so we took the kids to a little beach area near our house on Saturday afternoon. It's not the nicest beach, and the sand is more like dirt than sand, but it was still fun to get out of the house as a family.

As you can see, Tralee got into lots of things on our beachy outing. Hunter, on the other hand, did this:

I guess I didn't expect much more from my one-week-old.

When Daddy is in Charge of Bath TIme

Jim gave Tralee a bath and below is what he accomplished . . . besides cleaning our daughter.

Meanwhile, I was enjoying this little mug.

We're two lucky parents.
