Vote and Other News

I'm still going through my Wisconsin photos, I have over 100 good ones to choose from, so be patient and you'll see those soon. Until then, why don't you vote as to whether you think this next baby will be a boy or a girl. We get to find out on the 22nd of this month, so stay tuned.

In other news, we went over to Jeff and Tricia's house last night to bring in their mail and it was very surreal to be there. Two weeks ago Trish and Jeff had us over for Sunday dinner. We ate Trish's yummy food and innocently discussed our plans for the Thanksgiving holiday. After I walked past the kitchen that had so many happy memories in it, I noticed a box of Christmas wrapping paper and bows sitting by the piano. I thought of Tricia's plans of sitting under a Christmas tree and wrapping up all the gifts she purchased for her grandkids. I then walked into the living room and noticed some of her clothes on the chair near her ironing board and I thought she probably had plans to iron after she got back from her Thanksgiving vacation in St. George. The kicker was when I walked into her bathroom and noticed her makeup bag and hair brushes on the counter. The brushes had strands of her long blond hair in them. I smiled at the irony and told the brushes, the ironing board, and wrapping paper to be patient, their owner would soon return and put them to use again. Then I whispered into the universe, "Hurry home Trish, this house needs you in it! WE need you in it." I quickly reminded myself, once more, to be patient and left Tricia's house with hope in my heart.

Tricia Updates

There's a blog for Jim's mom now.  It's prayersfortrish.blogspot.com.  From what we hear Tricia is making progress everyday.  We're so happy to hear that.  It also sounds like her feisty personality wasn't lost in the accident.  Apparently she's been fighting with nurses when they change her iv, and even kicked a nurse when they were dealing with a catheter.  I probably would have kicked the nurse too.

If you want to read about Jim's Mom and keep updated on her progress visit her blog.  There's also other contact info and donation info on there as well.  Above all keep praying for my mother-in-law.  The power of prayer is real, and I know your prayers and good thoughts will reach her, her amazing husband, and family.

Wisconsin Trip Part One, and Other News (Prayers Needed)

Well, we made it safely to Wisconsin to visit my family. We spent Thanksgiving up north, or "up nord" how the locals say it. It was awesome to see my grandma and grandpa Stoehr, eat yummy food, play games, and hang out with family.

One of the games Jim and I like to play is cribbage. I don't really think you can consider yourself a member of the Jacobs family, unless you can play a mean game of crib. Cribbage also tends to be a game that reminds us of momentous occasions in our life. One time, shortly after Jim and I were married, we were playing crib on the floor of our married student housing apartments when Jim received a phone call. It was a family member letting us know his Grandpa Jacobs had died. We found it very interesting that as we were playing the very game Grandpa Jacobs was a master of, we found out about his passing.

When we were up north we were playing crib with some of my family on Saturday when Jim's phone rang. His sister Adrienne was on the other end and I heard her say, "I need to talk to you, it's important." I instantly felt a pit in my stomach. When Jim hung up the phone with Adrienne he looked at me and explained that his mom had an accident while repelling in St. George, UT. Her shoe became stuck in a crevice, and as she tried to pull it free, her foot came out of her shoe. The force sent her body flying and her head hit the rock wall. As Jim was explaining this to me Tricia was being life-flighted to the Salt Lake City hospital. She had not regained consciousness and there was blood on the brain. Upon hearing this news I instantly felt shock, fear, and disbelief. Then Jim said a family prayer.

In his prayer Jim not only prayed for his mom, but asked that those around Tricia, her family, siblings, and children, would be able to keep a level head, that they would feel at peace and calm with the knowledge that Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us. He also asked that Tricia would be in the hands of capable doctors, and that, if it be His will, she would be able to make full recovery if Heavenly Father saw fit. While Jim was praying an instant calm came over me, I knew everything would be okay -- whatever the outcome of "okay" was. We also called Tricia's name into the temple prayer roll, and waited for more news.

Adrienne has been keeping us updated. Tricia has had surgery to relieve the pressure on her brain, but they're keeping her sedated for at least five days to allow her brain to heal. We understand she woke up once, for a short time, which is a good sign. It's odd being so far away while all this is happening, but I still feel calm and at peace. This calm has allowed Jim and me to continue to enjoy our vacation in Wisconsin. There is no guilt, no pressure, no panic, just peace. All we can do is continue to pray for Jim's mom, and wait for more info. I ask that you pray too and send your good thoughts Tricia's way.

We're grateful this Thanksgiving holiday that Jim's mom is still with us. We're grateful we're able to spend time with my family in Wisconsin. We're grateful for the knowledge the Gospel gives us, and the peace that comes with this knowledge. We grateful for family, friends, food, shelter, and the many many many blessings we have.

We finished our stay "up nord" and are now spending the rest of our vacation in my old home turf. My brother and his wife recently purchased a beautiful home in Fox Point (near the house I grew up in) and we're staying with them. It feels so familiar being back in Fox Point. This morning I saw the little golf cart garbage trucks that drive up and down every drive way to pick up people's trash. It's nice because you don't have to drag your garbage to the end of the road, you just need to put it out on your drive way and tiny little garbage trucks (about the size of a golf cart) will drive up every drive way and get it. Jim thought it was weird. I thought it was great seeing them again. I never thought I would get excited to watch the garbage get picked up!

We've also already eaten dinner at my Nana's and we have plans for more yummy meals there. You can't leave her home with an empty stomach, even if you try. I love being back in Wisconsin, but I'm sure towards the end of this trip I'll be anxious to get back home. Yes, even if home is in Idaho, a place I swore I'd never live.

Tralee's been great this trip. She loves her cousins Haylee and Brady, and she's even let Grandma Char Char babysit her while Jim and I went out. It's great.

I'm not sure if I'll post again before I get back home. I just wanted to share the news about Jim's mom and ask that you keep her in your prayers. I hope the rest of my blogging friends are well. Until next time. . .

Twilight Date Night

As I mentioned before, Audie and I had plans to see Twilight together for six months. When Friday came around I could hardly stand it! Jim made fun of me because he said I put actual effort into getting ready for my "date" with Audie.

Let's compare.

When Jim takes me out I usually just go in the clothes I've been in all day (my usual sweats or jeans and t-shirt with stains all over it from Tralee), my hair is up in a pony-tail, and we have our toddler totting around with us.

Preparation for date night with Audie to see Twilight included, doing my hair, actually wearing make-up, getting dressed up, actually wearing some jewelry (because Tralee wouldn't be along to rip it off), and actual butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't wait!

Here we are at the movie theater on our first "date" We tried to look normal in this picture

Here we are looking so EXCITED for the movie to start.

Jim and Jared wanted to hang out while their wives went on a date, so Jim and I went over to the Jacobs' house to hang out until Audie and I left to see Twilight. We brought some sushi with us (yes, I only ate the fish that was cooked all the way through) and shared it with the other Jacobs family. I don't think Audie ate anything due to nerves, while I snarfed up a few too many rolls due to nerves.

Then the time finally came! We could go watch our Edward and Bella! Audie and I were brave enough to leave our kids with "the boys" as we refer to our husbands when they're together. We were a bit worried our daughters wouldn't get to bed in a timely manner, but according to the boys our daughters went down for the night just fine.

This is where we sat -- in the VERY top right hand side of the theater. They were the only seats available, even though we got there 30 min. early!!

Now as for the movie. I LOVED it! No, it was not as good as the book (are movies EVER as good as the book?), yes there were some--dare I say--cheesy moments, and yes I would have changed a few things, BUT overall I really really enjoyed seeing how Twilight was made into a movie. Some of the things were exactly how I pictured them while I read it. I also really enjoyed the energy in the theater. I know some people might be easily annoyed by the screaming obnoxious teenagers, but I found it pretty amusing. When the movie started everyone started clapping/screaming/cheering. I laughed. When Edward first showed up on screen a few more cheers sounded throughout the theater. I laughed again, partly because I was just as excited as those that screamed, only I managed to maintain composer. At the end of the movie more cheers, applause, and laughter. Audie and I didn't want to leave. I think we stayed until the very last credit rolled on by. We didn't want the night to be over.

On the drive back to Audie's place we drove a little under the speed limit, like back in the old dating days when you didn't want the date to end, so you did everything to prolong it, even if that meant driving under the speed limit. We talked about the movie, remembered our favorite parts, picked at the parts we would have changed, and wondered what state we would find our husbands in when we got back. We were pretty sure one of our husbands would be sleeping, and the other would welcome us back with a fart. We were pretty right on, all though the only ones sleeping were our daughters.
HOORAY!

Hooray for date night with Audie!

Hooray for our husbands watching the girls!

Hooray for Twilight and all things Edward Cullen!

Hooray that they're going to make New Moon into a movie!

Hooray!!

It was a really nice weekend!

Some Weekend Photos

Tralee likes to stuff things up her shirt, and down her pants. Don't ask why. The other day she was attempting to push a stuffy up her shirt, and her Daddy decided to help her. I think he helped her a little too well, because this was the end result! I think she has several stuffies in her clothes, a shoe, a sponge, some ribbon, you name it!

Sunday was a busy day for us. We went to church, went to Jim's Mom's house for dinner, and then had tithing settlement. By the time we got home Tralee was BEAT! It didn't help that she didn't have a nap on Sunday because our church is right in the middle of her usual nap time. When we got home, we put Tralee right in her PJ's, and then she climbed up on the couch and snuggled with me. I couldn't resist her warm snuggles, so we stayed on the couch for a little while until her usual bed time. Then she went right to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Just Curious

Who already has their tickets for Twilight?

Who has had plans for a "girl's night" to see Twilight since you heard about the movie?

Who is so excited to go see Edward (swoon) that you might just lose bladder control?

Who's husbands make fun of them for being obsessed with vampire stories?

Who is actually brave enough to take their husbands to see Twilight even though you're pretty sure you will be acting just as crazy/excited as the fifteen-year-old girls squealing three seats in front of you at the theater?

In case you're interested my answers to these questions are:

Yes my Twilight ticket has been purchased. I signed up for Fandango updates to I know exactly when Twilight tickets were available for purchase.

I've had plans to see the movie with my friend Audie for at least six months (correct me if I'm wrong Audie).

Yes, I'm excited to see Edward (yes, I realize it's just an actor, but tomorrow night let's just pretend Edward is real, not a fictional character in a book or an actor up on screen).

Yes, Jim CONSTANTLY makes fun of me for reading a series about vampires. He even occasionally tries to bite my neck, and after I yell at him he innocently replies, "What? I thought you would like it, since you love vampires!" He's such a dork! Ok. Ok. I'm a little dorky too.

And, NO Jim will not be attending Twilight with me. Firstly because I don't want him to ruin it for me with his snide remarks and guffaws at how cheesy he thinks it is, and secondly because I don't want him to see me transform into a teenager (even in my pregnant state) and drool as I watch Edward up on screen (again, I realize it's an actor, but for my sake, just pretend that Edward is real).

Puppy Love

We've been pretty boring lately. Jim and I are fighting colds, the weather has been rainy (I love grey rainy days), and we've just been doing our daily routine. Nothing too terribly exciting. I probably won't post again until something note worthy happens. However, upon request of Tralee's grandmother, I thought I better put a recent picture of Tralee up.

Here she is with her doggy. Tralee loves this dog more than any other girl ever loved a dog. Her eyes light up when Corky walks into the room. When we say the word "doggy" Tralee has to search the entire house until she discovers where her beloved is. Corky is used as a pillow, playmate, and confidant. Whenever Tralee doesn't want to eat something, she'll just throw it on the ground and happily watch Corky snarff it right up. It's gotten to the point where Corky's not aloud in the kitchen while Tralee is eating, or Tralee would share he entire meal with her furry friend. I'm glad Corky tolerates all the attention from Tralee, because I know Corky would rather spend the entire day laying in the sun snoozing, than have a toddler follow her around. They're an odd couple, they are.
